Is it useful to put “CCTV in use” stickers even without cameras?

Stickers alone aren’t a magic shield, but they do add a small layer of deterrence. Most opportunistic thieves don’t want to get recorded. When they see “CCTV in use” at the gate, window or door, some will simply decide your house is not worth the risk and move to an easier target.

But you shouldn’t rely only on stickers. If the rest of the house screams “no security” – weak locks, dark corners, open windows – then a smart intruder will quickly guess it’s just a bluff. Also, if a crime does happen, the sticker doesn’t help you identify anyone, because there’s no actual footage. So, stickers work best as a bonus on top of real measures: strong locks, decent lighting, maybe even one or two actual cameras near key points. If budget is tight, start with the basics first. If you still want to use stickers, place them in realistic spots – near doors, on gates, beside a bell – not randomly. Think of them as a “beware of dog” sign: helpful, but only if there’s at least some bark behind it.
